Society Of Actuaries Names Andrew D. Rallis As President-Elect
Schaumburg, IL – The Society of Actuaries (SOA) today announced Andrew D. Rallis, FSA, MAAA, will serve as 2018-2019 president-elect. Rallis will begin his duties as the 71stSOA president at the 2019 SOA Annual Meeting and Exhibit, for the 2019-2020 term.
Based in Bridgewater, N.J., Rallis is executive vice president and global chief actuary of MetLife, Inc., where he is responsible for actuarial practice throughout the company with over 1,200 actuaries operating across 46 countries. He is chair of MetLife’s captive reinsurers and co-chair of several of the company’s risk committees. He also serves as the president of the Chief Actuaries Forum, an industry group representing the largest employers of actuaries. He earned both a Bachelor of Science in Physics and in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), graduating in 1982.
During his term as SOA president, Rallis plans to focus on ways to solidify the reputation of actuaries as trusted advisors and to prepare actuaries to meet the dual demands of globalization and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Rallis is a long-time SOA volunteer, having served on the SOA’s Employer Council, as secretary/treasurer of the SOA during his 2015-2018 board term, and as frequent speaker at major SOA meetings, among other volunteer positions.
The SOA also announced the newly elected SOA Board members: Julie A. Curtis, FSA, MAAA, EA; David M. Dillon, FSA, MAAA; Jennifer Anne Haid, FSA; Sara Corrough Teppema, FSA, MAAA; and Ling-Ling Wang, FSA, CERA, MAAA. They are joined by continuing SOA Board members Sue Blanck, FSA, MAAA; Andrea Bykerk Christopherson, FSA, MAAA; William B. (Flick) Fornia, FSA, MAAA, EA, FCA; Christine Hofbeck, FSA, MAAA; Wendy C. Liang, FSA, CERA, MAAA; past president Mike Lombardi, FSA, CERA, FCIA, MAAA; Terry M. Long, FSA, MAAA; Eileen F. Luxton, FSA, FCIA; Timothy L. Rozar, FSA, CERA, MAAA, FLMI, ARA, MBA; David K. Sandberg, FSA, CERA, MAAA; and Mark M. Yu, FSA, MAAA, CFA, FRM. James M. Glickman, FSA, MAAA, CLU, will serve as SOA president for the 2018-2019 term.
The SOA thanks the members who have completed their term on the SOA Board. These members rolling off include: Jeremy J. Brown, FSA, MAAA; Karen J.
