So Cal Corporate Growth Partners in town to help with disaster preparedness

Aug. 15--In addition to hearing from SBA representative Bill Koontz about the possibility of disaster loans, the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday also heard from Linda Harris and Michael Chou of So Cal Corporate Growth Partners. Harris and Chou are in town for the rest of the week, providing free assistance with disaster planning and preparedness.

Harris explained that the two are working on an emergency-awareness grant funded by the state of California and had been in town two days at that point. She said they were meeting with residents to talk about issues both pre-disaster and post-disaster.

"I have to tell you we have been very welcomed by the people up here. You guys are great. We thank you all," she said.

"We are here to help. We are here to serve," Chou said.

The So Cal Corporate Growth Partners Emergency Preparedness and Business Recovery Program provides emergency preparedness trainings for groups, small businesses and non-profits. They also provide one-on-one consulting for making an emergency preparedness assessment and plan, contingency planning, insurance assessment, resource identification and safety reviews.

"We just want to say, take advantage of it. It's free," Harris said. "What we do best is go out and work with you, even in your place of service. We are here as a resource, we are here to start the conversation."

Chou said he and Harris will be around "the whole week" and urged people to take advantage of the service.
