Serious injuries reported in Tuesday crash near Fun Castle

Oct. 24--WAYNECASTLE -- One person suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle accident on Buchanan Trail East near Fun Castle in Antrim Township Tuesday afternoon around 4 p.m.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Jacob Godlove, 20, of Hagerstown, was flown from the scene to be treated for life-threatening injuries at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Kayla Kelley, 19, of Hagerstown, was a passenger in Godlove's vehicle and was flown to Hershey Medical Center to be treated for her injuries. Police said Kelley is pregnant.

Both Godlove and Kelley were extricated from the vehicle, according to police.

Police said a 2000 International Harvester semi truck driven by John Humes, 49, of Chambersburg, was traveling west on Route 16 when Humes lost control and began sliding in a rainstorm. The front of the semi truck crossed the double yellow lines and hit the front of a 2001 Chevrolet S10 driven by Godlove, which was traveling east.

After impact, the semi truck rotated, struck an embankment and came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway, according to police. Following the collision, police said the S10 struck a concrete barrier and came to rest in the roadway facing east.

Humes and his passenger, Melissa Trump, 52, of Chambersburg, were transported to Meritus Medical Center to be treated for suspected minor injuries, according to police.

State police were assisted by emergency personnel from Greencastle and Waynesboro along with volunteer fire police.
