Senate Should Continue Working to Repeal Obamacare, Then Take Targeted Approach to Health Care Reform

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

ARLINGTON, Va., July 19 -- Freedom Partners, a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization, issued the following news release:

Freedom Partners Vice President of Policy Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement in reaction to health care developments in the U.S. Senate.

"We agree with the President, the Vice President, and Senate leadership who have all coalesced around the idea of repealing Obamacare as a first step to begin fixing health care for all Americans, including the most vulnerable. Senators who promised to fix the health care system must stand up and vote to repeal Obamacare.

"Now that the BCRA is off the table, the Senate should move quickly to repeal the law with all the regulations and taxes the reconciliation process will allow. We remain committed to working with lawmakers on repealing Obamacare and passing targeted solutions that reduce costs, create more choices, put patients in charge of their health, and empower states to create reliable safety nets to protect their most vulnerable citizens.

"As we've said consistently, improving health care is a long-term effort that will require solutions at all levels of government, and undoing Obamacare's damage is just the first step in that process."

Earlier this year, Freedom Partners released a strategy memo entitled, "Health Care: A Targeted Approach." The memo put forth a series of targeted health care solutions that lawmakers can begin working on today that will lower costs, increase choice, and improve access to care for millions of people seeking relief.
