Sen. Wyden Issues Statement on Health Care Guidance

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Oregon, ranking Democratic member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement after the Trump administration released guidance on Section 1332 waivers that would encourage junk health plans and threaten American families' health care:
"After spending weeks pretending to support pre-existing condition protections, Trump and Republicans are showing their true colors.
"Today's changes will let states run by conservative ideologues unilaterally push junk plans onto unsuspecting Americans and give insurance companies a windfall, all while leaving people with pre-existing conditions out in the cold.
"This is a giant leap towards the health care system Trump and Republicans want for Americans, one where your premiums keep going up and insurance companies don't help with your medical bills. That's not why I created this provision.
"The Trump administration can do all the name-changes and spinning it wants - the American people know Republicans are running a con that will hurt our health care."
