HARTFORD, Connecticut, Jan. 8 -- The office of Sen. Christopher Murphy, D-Connecticut, issued the following news release:
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, released a statement on Monday after Access Health CT (AHCT) announced that - despite efforts by the Trump administration to sabotage the Affordable Care Act - 2018 health care enrollment numbers were higher than the previous year's enrollment numbers.
Between November 1, 2017 and December 22, 2017, 114,134 Connecticut residents signed up for private health insurance coverage through AHCT, a 2.3 percent increase in enrollment compared to last year.
"The Trump administration tried to prevent people from signing up for health care at every turn," said Murphy. "The numbers released today speak for themselves - people in Connecticut know the value in signing up for health care and the Affordable Care Act is working. I'm grateful to the Access Health team for such a successful enrollment period. Now it's time for Republicans to join Democrats in working together to keep what's working in the Affordable Care Act and improve what's not.
