Sen. Hirono Introduces Bill to Improve Old-Age, Survivors & Disability Insurance Program

WASHINGTON, July 23 -- Sen. Mazie K. Hirono, D-Hawaii, has introduced legislation (S. 4583) to "amend title II of the Social Security Act and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to make improvements in the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program, and to provide for Social Security benefit protection."
The bill was introduced on July 21 and was co-sponsored by Sens. Tina Smith, D-Minn., and Jeff Merkley, D-Ore. It was referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
