U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement on President Trump's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court. In 2017, Senator Hassan voted against Judge Barrett's nomination to her current position on the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
"I strongly oppose efforts by President Trump and Senator McConnell to rush through this Supreme Court nomination before the election instead of working across party lines on another comprehensive COVID-19 relief bill.
"This nomination should be seen for exactly what it is: an attempt to overturn the Affordable Care Act and protections for pre-existing conditions, in the middle of a pandemic no less.
