WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 -- The office of Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., issued the following news release:
Today, US Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) released a statement on the short-term extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) until December 8, 2017, which was added to the Continuing Resolution.
The Continuing Resolution also includes $15.25 billion in emergency spending for Hurricane Harvey and Irma, $7.4 billion for FEMA, $7.4 billion for CDBG funding for areas most affected by 2017 disasters, and $450 million for the Small Business Authority disaster loan program.
"The three month extension of the NFIP will give Congress more time to solidify reforms to make the program sustainable and affordable for Louisiana families," said Dr. Cassidy. "With the Gulf Coast still recovering from Harvey, Irma hitting Florida, and another hurricane in the Atlantic, Congress and the president did the right thing."
