Scottsdale Insurance Company SVP Gary Tiepelman to Retire

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Scottsdale Insurance Company Sr. Vice President of Contract and Professional Lines Underwriting Gary Tiepelman recently announced his intention to retire effective August 1.

“Everyone retires sometime. For me, this is the time. I’ve been blessed to work for a company as amazing as Scottsdale. It really is unique in the business. Scottsdale has, and will continue to have, the best underwriters and customers in the industry, with or without me at the helm,” Tiepelman said.

Hired by founder Rollie Wiegers in 1982 as the company’s 13^th associate, Tiepelman helped grow Scottsdale Insurance from nothing to a $3 billion company.

“I am sad to lose such a key member of my team. Gary is a strong leader, a good friend, and he will be missed,” Scottsdale Insurance Company President Mike Miller said. “But I support Gary’s decision to bring his distinguished career with Scottsdale to a close in order to enjoy the retirement he very much deserves.”

Executive Vice President Tom Clark will serve as the interim leader of Contract and Professional Lines Underwriting until a successor is named.
