SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center opening in Haileyville

McAlester News-Capital (OK)

May 16-- May 16--The federal Small Business Administration is setting up a temporary Disaster Loan Outreach Center for Pittsburg County to take loan applications related to tornado and severe weather damage from April 30.

It will be in the Pittsburg County Civic Center, also known as the District 1 County Barn, at 200 Craig Ave. in Haileyville.

The Disaster Outreach Center is set to open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, and then remain open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays until it closes for good at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 6. It will also be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day.

Purpose of the program is to provide low-interest disaster loans to home and businesses to replace storm-damaged property not covered by insurance or other assistance programs.

The News-Capital has requested further information on the procedure and details involved at the Disaster Outreach Center in Haileyville.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt requested and received the SBA disaster declaration for Pittsburg and Bryan counties. SBA rules means that contiguous counties to Pittsburg and Bryan counties are also eligible for assistance, according to information from the governor's office. Atoka, Choctaw, Coal, Haskell, Hughes, Johnston, Latimer, Marshall, McIntosh, and Pushmataha counties are now eligible for SBA low-interest disaster loans as well.

The quick turnaround between the governor's request and the granting of the SBA assistance surprised even some of those who've spent a long time working with disaster relief.

Meanwhile, additional SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers are also planned in Atoka and Bryan counties.

The SBA Disaster Outreach Center in Atoka County opens at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Lane Baptist Church at 621 Ironstob Rd. It's scheduled to remain open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. through Friday, May 24, when it's set to close at 6 p.m.

Another SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center is set to open in Bryan County at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Rock Creek Elementary School at 23072 U.S. Highway 70 in Durant. It's to remain open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, until it closes at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 6. It will be closed Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday.
