In our area of NW Florida, and especially the environmentally sensitive peninsula that I live on has been subjected to horrific clear cutting with fill and build development.
As a consequence many homeowners who do not live on the coast are flooding in their subdivisions.
Santa Rosa County has over 390 storm water ponds engineered using 1960s rainfall data and ponds fail routinely.
Many people who do not expect to flood do, and others who have flooded in the past experience trauma and fear of repeat flooding.
The building that has taken place under the guise of affordable housing puts homeowners in a situation that is anything BUT affordable!
The price of flood insurance, rebuilding, flood hardening, insurance deductibles and being trapped in a flood prone home is devastating. Please revise these regulations!
