MIDDLEBURY — Co-operative Insurance Cos. announced the promotion of Gina Larrow from senior vice president of Human Resources and Project Management to chief operating officer. With 24 years of experience in the insurance industry, she has demonstrated leadership, strategic vision for, and understanding of company values and goals. Larrow is a graduate of Rutland High School and holds two degrees from Champlain College.

Delta Dental

CONCORD, N.H. — Delta Dental Plan of Vermont announced the election of two new trustees to its board. Dr. Robert B. Boyd and Dr. Elicia N. Thompson will each serve a three-year term which began April 5. Dr. Boyd is owner of and general dentist at Champlain Dental Group LTD, where he has practiced for more than 30 years. Dr. Elicia Thompson serves as dental director at Community Health Centers of Burlington.

Hannaford

BRUNSWICK, Maine — In the first of two micro-grant cycles, the Maine Council on Aging has awarded nearly $376,000 through Hannaford Supermarkets' Connection, Health and Equity Through Food program across five states. Eight organizations in Vermont — AgeWell Vermont, Bennington Project Independence, Brattleboro Housing Opportunities Inc., Good Samaritan Haven, HANDS, Heineberg Community Senior Center, Northern Tier Center for Health, and Senior Solutions — received grants to improve the health and well-being of older adults in Vermont. The final micro-grant cycle is now open, and applications are being accepted online at agefriendly.community until June 30.

AGC/VT

Associated General Contractors of Vermont (AGC/VT) was honored with the national AGC In The Community Chapter Award for leadership and dedication in combatting substance use disorders and promoting mental health awareness in Vermont's construction sector. AGC/VT initiative has saved five lives, distributed more than 50,000 Narcan doses, and 12,000 harm reduction kits to contractors, organizations and businesses in Vermont.

COLLEGE NEWS

The O'Connor Center for Community Engagement at SUNY Delhi recently recognized graduating senior Clarissa LeBell, of Wells, among students who logged in the most community service hours and received community service cords to wear at graduation as a sign of their achievement.

Transfer guarantee

Four colleges and universities have committed to simplify transfer for students who earn associate degrees at Community College of Vermont and want to pursue a bachelor's degree program at a four-year institution in Vermont. Champlain College (including Champlain College Online), Norwich University, Saint Michael's College and Vermont State University have joined the New England Transfer Guarantee, a program of the New England Board of Higher Education. Interested students should visit ccv.edu/academics/transfer-from-ccv/vermont-transfer-guarantee the student portal.

The institutions have signed a memorandum of agreement joining the Vermont Transfer Guarantee and offering the following benefits:

— Students equipped with an associate degree from CCV and who meet the required grade-point average are guaranteed admission at the four-year institution they choose.

— The application fee and personal essay requirement are waived.

— Transferring students are considered for institutional support in the form of grants and scholarships.

RUTLAND — Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region announced a free workshop, "Financial Management: Looking At Your Numbers," led by Marian Fritz will be held Tuesday, May 21, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at The Hub CoWorks, 67 Merchants Row in Rutland. Golden Cane

POULTNEY — The Poultney Historical Society announced it will begin again its "Golden Cane Award" to honor the oldest person living in Poultney currently. Applications will be taken until June 10 and may be made by email [email protected] or call 802-287-5252. An awards ceremony will be at the Poultney Historical Society at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 23, to honor this year's recipient, who will also ride in this year's Fourth of July Parade.

Community Health

Community Health CEO Mike Gardner and Board Chair Nancy Morlino honored and thanked 39 Community Health employees for their years of service ranging from five to 20 years.

Three employees, Chief Medical Officer Bradley Berryhill, Credentialing Specialist Melissa Bovey and Nurse Practitioner Robin Myers were honored for having been part of Community Health for 20 years.
