Rep. Walz Issues Statement on Minnesota Health Insurance Rates Announcement

WASHINGTON, July 31 -- Rep. Timothy J. Walz, D-Minn., issued the following statement regarding the proposed health insurance rates announced by the Minnesota Department of Commerce:

"I have always said health care reform is a journey, not a destination. While the rates released today could be a sign that things are stabilizing, they are a reminder that we need a bipartisan coalition of leaders willing to work together to fix the things not working in our health care system, while keeping key protections to ensure every American gets the care they need.

"I am particularly concerned about the number of folks who were priced out of the individual market.

"I will also continue to work with my colleagues to advocate for Minnesota's State Innovation Waiver from the federal government, so we can use our Minnesota ingenuity to help lower health care costs."
