Rep. Pittenger Votes to Repeal Obamacare

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 -- Rep. Robert Pittenger, R-N.C. (9th CD), issued the following news release:

In the first legislative step toward restoring affordability and freedom of choice in America's health care system, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) today joined the U.S. House of Representatives in approving S. Con. Res. 3, which provides Congress with the legislative tools to responsibly repeal and replace Obamacare.

"President Obama promised his health care law would reduce family premiums by $2,500. Instead, the average family now pays more than $4,000 additional each year. President Obama promised choices, but most North Carolinians have only one health insurance option. Many constituents tell me their deductibles are so high the insurance isn't worth it. President Obama launched his health care reform with the best of intentions, but the results have proven disastrous," said Congressman Pittenger.

"Despite what you hear from the liberal media, House Republicans do have a plan to replace Obamacare. In fact, I'm a proud co-sponsor of two separate Obamacare replacement bills. Thanks to today's vote, we now have the tools to carefully merge the best of these proposals and move forward with truly affordable health care reform, including protections for those with pre-existing conditions and an appropriate safety net for those in need.

"Obamacare left 28 million Americans uninsured, and drove up costs for everyone else. The Democrat plan failed. House Republicans are committed to making health care truly affordable for all Americans."

Today's Obamacare repeal resolution (S. Con. Res. 3) passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 227-198.
