Rep. Palazzo Applauds Swift Approval of Federal Disaster Declaration for Easter Tornadoes

WASHINGTON, April 17 -- Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-Mississippi, issued the following statement:
Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4), released the following statement after President Donald J. Trump granted a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Mississippi making federal funds available to support the recovery efforts of Mississippi communities and families impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding that occurred on April 12, 2020.
"The storm that moved through our area on Easter Sunday left Mississippi devastated. President Trump's quick response to our disaster declaration request will help our communities get back on their feet. We appreciate the Administration's quick response and stand ready to support recovery efforts."
On April 15, Palazzo joined the Mississippi congressional delegation in requesting immediate support of the request.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties can begin applying for assistance tomorrow by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.
