Rep. Kildee Encourages Michiganders to Shop for Affordable Health Insurance During Open Enrollment

FLINT, Michigan, Nov. 3 -- Rep. Daniel Kildee, D-Michigan, issued the following news release on Nov. 2:

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today announced the start of open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a time when Michigan families can shop for health insurance plans for themselves and their families. Open enrollment runs through December 15, 2020.

Congressman Kildee encourages constituents to visit www.healthcare.gov to shop for health insurance plans for individuals and families for coverage beginning in 2021. Even individuals currently covered can use the website to compare options for 2021.

"During open enrollment, individuals and families have the opportunity to shop for quality and affordable health insurance through the health insurance marketplace in Michigan," Congressman Kildee said. "Making sure you and your family have insurance can protect against unexpected accidents or illness. In addition, many Michigan families last year qualified for financial help with their premiums when they enrolled in health insurance through the marketplace."

Free help is available during the open enrollment period. Individuals with questions about signing up for health insurance or changing their existing plan can speak with a trained professional by calling 1-800-318-2596 or locate local in-person assistance at https://localhelp.healthcare.gov. Congressman Kildee continues to work to protect and make improvements to the ACA. This year, Kildee voted in support of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act. The bill would build on the ACA by lowering health care coverage costs, negotiating for lower prescription drug prices, expanding coverage, and combating inequities in health coverage faced by communities of color.
