Rep. Higgins Introduces Bill on Cost Sharing for Oral Anticancer Drugs

WASHINGTON, March 14 -- Rep. Brian Higgins, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation (H.R. 1730) to amend the Public Health Service Act "to require group and individual health insurance coverage and group health plans to provide for cost sharing for oral anticancer drugs on terms no less favorable than the cost sharing provided for anticancer medications administered by a health care provider."
The bill was introduced on March 13 and has 17 co-sponsors. Co-sponsors include Reps. Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., Doris O. Matsui, D-Calif., Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., Derek Kilmer, D-Wash., Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., Pete King, R-N.Y., Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., Peter A. DeFazio, D-Ore., Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., Pete Olson, R-Texas, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., Will Hurd, R-Texas, Ami Bera, D-Calif., Tom Cole, R-Okla., Ro Khanna, D-Calif., Michael T. McCaul, R-Texas, and Del. Eleanor Holmes-Norton, D-D.C.
The legislation was referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
