WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 -- Rep. Lois Frankel, D-Fla., issued the following statement on House passage of anti-abortion legislation:
"For women to thrive in the economic and social opportunities of our nation, we must have the ability to control our own reproductive lives with full access to real health care choices.
"Republican's unrelenting efforts to force unwanted pregnancies and eradicate affordable and safe abortion will not save lives.
"Passing the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, repealing the ACA, and defunding Planned Parenthood will return women to the days of coat hanger medicine." Watch Rep. Frankel speak on the House floor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyLF6BNfTNI.
H.R.7, the so-called No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, takes away tax benefits from families and small businesses, including tax deductions and premium tax credits to help pay for health care, if their insurance plan covers abortion and makes permanent the federal law that prohibits federal money from covering abortion care. The legislation is a radical assault on women's health care.
