Rep. Dingell Issues Statement on Senate Republicans’ Health Care Bill
Targeted News Service
WASHINGTON, June 22 -- Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., issued the following statement after Senate Republicans released their proposal to repeal the Affordable Care Act:
"After drafting this bill in a back room, behind closed doors with no transparency, no hearings and no attempt at bipartisan negotiations, Senate Republicans finally released the text of their health care plan today. The results are devastating for working families. Like the House bill, this damaging proposal would rip health care away from millions of Americans, gut protections for those with pre-existing conditions, end Medicaid expansion, which has extended coverage to nearly 700,000 people in our state through the Healthy Michigan program, and charge older Americans five times more for care - all to give billions in tax breaks to the wealthiest and big corporations.
"This is not who we are as Americans. We should be working together to bring down costs for all families and ensure every American has access to quality, affordable health care. I agree with President Trump on one point: the House bill is mean. This plan is just as heartless and represents an abdication of our moral responsibility to the people we represent."
