Rep. DeLauro Slams Senate Republican Health Care Bill
Targeted News Service
WASHINGTON, June 22 -- Rep. Rosa L. DeLauro, D-Conn., issued the following statement regarding the Senate Republican health care bill, which was finally released.
"Now that the Senate Republican health care bill is public, it is clearer than ever why Majority Leader McConnell and Senate Republicans hid it for weeks. Not only will the bill ration health care for millions of Americans, it is a massive giveaway to the wealthy at the expense of our kids. From not guaranteeing coverage on services like prescription drugs and substance abuse treatment, to blocking funding for Planned Parenthood, Americans will struggle to get the lifesaving care they need."
"The bill also imposes an age tax on older Americans and takes away services from the disabled, including children, making care more costly for millions."
"Senate Republicans are going to do all that they can to ram this bill through Congress and change the rules to reconcile it with a completely different House bill. Why? So that President Trump can claim credit for living up to one of his most dangerous and misguided campaign promises. Rather than kick millions of Americans off their health insurance and make care more expensive for the most vulnerable populations, House and Senate Republicans should work with Democrats in Congress to strengthen and improve the Affordable Care Act. American lives depend on it."
