Rep. Blunt Rochester Issues Statement on Revised Senate Health Legislation

WASHINGTON, July 14 -- Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., issued the following statement on the revised Senate health care bill and its impact on the American people:
"The revised Senate health care bill fails to meaningfully drive down the cost of premiums, stabilize the insurance marketplaces, or maintain coverage for the people who need health care most. With the inclusion of extreme policies like the Cruz Amendment, which allows insurers to offer skimpy and non-comprehensive health plans, Americans with pre-existing conditions would see drastic increases to the cost of coverage they purchase.
"According to an analysis of the Senate health care bill by the Center for American Progress, 2018 premiums will rise by $1,365 on average in Delaware. This will have an impact outside of the individual insurance marketplaces with up to 86,000 Delawareans with employer sponsored coverage losing protections for annual or lifetime limits.
"At this point, we are seeing a bad bill get worse. Once again, I call on Republicans in the House and Senate to bring Democrats into the process to find common sense solutions to improve the Affordable Care Act."
