Washington, D.C. -- Today, Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH) issued the following statement after hearing health insurer Anthem will leave Ohio's Obamacare marketplace:
"Anthem's decision to pull out of Affordable Care Act's exchange in Ohio is deeply problematic but hardly surprising. As many of us have been pointing out for quite a long time, Obamacare is collapsing in front of our own eyes and leaving a trail of destruction in communities spanning the entire country. With Anthem out of the picture, 20 of the poorest counties in Ohio are left with no available plans through the ACA marketplace for 2018. Premiums have jumped 90 percent in the last four years, and sadly this announcement will only further reduce competition and harm Ohioans purchasing insurance on the individual market. When the House passed the AHCA repeal and replace legislation, it was a critical starting point in a process to produce a new healthcare law that works for all Americans. It's imperative that the Senate advance the AHCA through its own processes and amendments to continue moving forward in the process of repealing and replacing Obamacare. Now more than ever it's crystal clear that the current law is collapsing and the American people are counting on us to replace it."
