Records published April 2

West Central Tribune (Willmar, MN)

April 02--This is the records summary for April 2.

Driver, 16, hurt in Highway 23 accident

WILLMAR -- A 16-year-old Raymond youth was injured early Saturday morning in a one-vehicle rollover accident, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

Adam Raymond DeJong was reportedly driving a 1996 Ford Ranger eastbound along state Highway 23 near 45th Avenue north of Willmar when he lost control, crossed the west bound lanes, ran off the road and the vehicle rolled. The accident was reported at 5:39 a.m. The roads were said to be covered with snow and ice at the time of the accident.

DeJong was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life threatening injuries. He had been wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the accident, according to the report.

Members of the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department and the Minnesota State Patrol were both on the scene.

March farewell is messy one on roads

WILLMAR -- Icy roads and blowing snow were responsible for a number of spin-outs and vehicles going into the ditch on the final days of March. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of minor crashes or vehicles going into ditches beginning Friday night and continuing with a peak in activity from 5 to 9 a.m. Saturday. Willmar Police also assisted at weather-related vehicle mishaps Saturday.

They included a vehicle that slid off the road on the 1000 block of Seventh Street Northwest, ending up partly into the ice on Foot Lake at 9:47 p.m. Saturday.

Willmar Police also issued a citation for driving without insurance to a man who damaged two parked vehicles on the 1800 block of Eighth Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Friday. His vehicle pushed one of the parked vehicles into the other, damaging all three vehicles involved.

Thefts

SPICER -- A table saw valued at over $800 was stolen from a garage on the 200 block of Lake Avenue North, Spicer, it was reported Saturday morning.

WILLMAR -- Police are investigating the reported theft of over $500 cash at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast at 6 p.m. Friday. Suspects are described as a heavier set, white female with tattoos on her lower arms and an Hispanic male. They left in an older model Ford Crown Victoria, with what appeared to be Texas license plates.
