Raleigh man charged with making false statements on auto insurance claim to fraudulently receive $10K

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh man is facing two felony charges after officials say he attempted to defraud an automobile insurance provider.
Devante Tavon Anderson, 28, is charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses. His arrest was announced by the North Carolina Department of Insurance on Wednesday.
According to the Department of Insurance, Anderson attempted to receive $10,000 from Progressive Premier Insurance Company by making false statements on an automobile insurance claim in late December 2023.
The Department of Insurance says Anderson was arrested on July 19 and released on a $10,000 unsecured bond. He appeared in Wake County District Court on Aug. 2.
