Restructures Leadership Team to Highlight Clinical Depth and Breadth

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- R3 Continuum (R3) today announced a restructuring to highlight the depth, breadth and expertise of their clinical team. This restructuring is largely focused on the leadership team, but will also cascade further into the organization as R3 growth accelerates.

The three key moves in this restructuring include a change in reporting relationship for Dr. Les Kertay PhD, ABPP, LP, Chief Medical Officer, a role change for Dr. Tonya Slawinski, PhD, formerly Vice President of Business Development, and a promotion for Dr. George Vergolias PsyD, LP, formerly Associate Medical Director.

Dr. Kertay now reports directly to Scott Alfieri, CEO, and retains overall responsibility for clinical quality in all service lines and for industry-facing thought leadership and research efforts. Dr. Kertay will work alongside and provide clinical input to Jim Mortensen, President, who retains responsibility for all non-clinical aspects of R3 Continuum.

We decided to highlight the quality of our clinical services by structuring R3 in a similar way.” Alfieri added, “We feel this only enhances our offerings to the market and further differentiates R3.”

Dr. Slawinski, now Vice President, Associate Clinical Officer, reports to Dr. Kertay, and takes over responsibility for clinical services delivered from R3’s Grand Rapids offices. These include disruptive event management, behavioral health case management, and telephonic services. Dr. Slawinski also continues to lead development and delivery of R3’s executive concierge service.

Dr. Vergolias joins R3’s executive team as Vice President, Associate Medical Director, also reporting to Dr. Kertay. Dr. Vergolias continues to be responsible for clinical services delivered from R3’s Minneapolis offices. These include peer reviews and assessments. Dr. Vergolias also continues to lead development and delivery of R3’s workplace violence and threat management services.

About Dr. Les Kertay PhD, ABPP, LP

Dr. Les Kertay is a licensed and board certified clinical psychologist with extensive experience in the arena of mind-body health including disability medicine, chronic pain, and health behaviors. He also has expertise as a leader and consultant on strategies for managing workplace absence. His experience includes 15 years in executive leadership positions in the medical and vocational areas of the disability insurance industry. Dr. Kertay has presented at national and international conferences on topics related to the psychological aspects of work and disability, practical approaches to managing psychosocial issues in clinical practice, pain management, somatoform and personality disorders, and professional ethics. Also, in addition to other publications, he is a contributor to three books on psychosocial aspects of complex disability claims and is lead editor for the AMA Guides to Navigating Disability Benefit Systems.

About Dr. Tonya Slawinski, PhD

Tonya Teal Slawinski, Ph.D., has over 30 years of clinical experience working with a wide range of mental health disorders in an inpatient setting and also in private practice. Before joining R3 Continuum, Dr. Slawinski owned and operated Supportive Solutions, Inc., the largest private woman-owned incident response firm in the nation, where she recruited and trained over 850 mental health professionals to provide crisis response services and provided crisis management and threat of violence training for Fortune 500 companies nationwide. In addition to her role at R3 Continuum, she is an adjunct faculty member at University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work.

About Dr. George Vergolias, PsyD, LP

George Vergolias is a forensic psychologist and threat management expert. He currently serves as Associate Medical Director of R3 Continuum, leading their threat of violence and workplace violence programs. Dr. Vergolias is also the founder and President of TelePsych Supports, a tele-mental health company providing involuntary commitment and crisis risk evaluations for hospitals and emergency departments. He has over 20 years of forensic experience with expertise in the following areas: violence risk and threat management, psychological dynamics of stalking, sexual offending, emotional trauma, civil and involuntary commitment, suicide and self-harm, occupational disability, law enforcement consultation, expert witness testimony, and tele-mental health. Dr. Vergolias has directly assessed or managed over one thousand cases related to elevated risk for violence or self-harm, sexual assault, stalking, and communicated threats. He has consulted with regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Secret Service, and Bureau of Prisons.
