President Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Wisconsin

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security'sFederal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Wisconsin to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by flooding from July 19 to July 23, 2017.
Federal funding is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides, and mudslides in Buffalo, Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Jackson, La Crosse, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Trempealeau, and Vernon counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Benigno Bern Ruiz has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Ruiz said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
