Plug In & Drive Auto Insurance – NYCM Insurance Launches inControl Powered by IMS’ Award Winning DriveSync Connected Car Platform
Usage-based insurance is one of the many connected car services made possible by the DriveSync platform. "IMS' DriveSync connected car technology continues to be the top choice for insurance companies focused on driver safety leveraging telematics," said
With inControl, teenage drivers and parents can customize email and text alerts to measure and monitor harsh braking, harsh acceleration, speeding, unauthorized driving times and unapproved driving locations. To collect driving information, a device is plugged into the OBD-II port (typically found below the dashboard in any vehicle manufactured after 1996), enabling drivers to have access to real-time information about their driving habits through a web portal. By enrolling in the NYCM inControl program, eligible drivers receive a 10% participation discount on their auto insurance premium for the first twelve months. Based on real-time driving behaviors, policy holders could also be eligible to save up to 30% on their renewal premium.
NYCM is focused on providing auto insurance customers with tools and technology that create safer driving experiences, signified by the launch of inControl. The program is available for customers of all ages, however the greatest benefit has been found among teenagers. "The teenage driver coaching features made a significant improvement in both driver behavior and peace of mind for families in our market trials," said
