PlanMember’s Edward Portelles Earns Certified Financial Planner Designation

FARMINGVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Edward Portelles, CFP®, Vice President and Business Development Officer at PlanMember Securities in Carpinteria, Calif., has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP® certification marks in accordance with CFP Board certification and renewal requirements. Portelles has worked at PlanMember since 2011 and is responsible for managing relationships with PlanMember advisors in the Northeastern U.S. region. Portelles’ roles include transitioning an advisor’s business to PlanMember Securities, product training, sales strategy and business coaching, succession planning and business development programs. Portelles’ primary focus is to help financial centers and individual advisors build and grow a successful fee-based financial services enterprise.

Portelles started his career in 1998 with Dime Securities in New York. He quickly moved to Prudential Investments Advisory Group in New Jersey and became the youngest Vice President in their history. Just before joining PlanMember, Portelles served as Vice President, Director of Wealth Management & Investment Banking at Gabor & Associates, CPAs in New York.

Portelles graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY with a degree in business administration and finance. He holds FINRA Licenses Series 7, 24, 63 & 65; life, variable, annuity, and accident & health insurance licenses. Portelles is also a ChFC®, CIMA®, CIMC®, CMFC® and a CPA.

The CFP® marks identify individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination covering: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning. CFP® professionals agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Rules of Conduct and Financial Planning Practice Standards.
