Florida county recognized after earning 40% flood insurance discount for residents

The program, first established by Congress in 1968, helps give residents insurance to reduce the negative effects of flooding.

Pinellas County recently got a Class 2 Community Rating System rating, which increased the discount for residents in unincorporated Pinellas County from 35% to 40%.

This rating is the highest a Florida community has everr earned and is expected to save property owners a total of $10 million per year.
