Lebovits named EVP at Delphi Financial

Wilmington-based Delphi Financial Group, Inc, an insurance holding company whose subsidiaries are focused on retirement services, employee benefits and specialty property-casualty coverages, hired Jeffrey Lebovitz as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Lebovitz, 46, has more than 20 years of experience with major investment firms and global investment banks. Jeff joins from Pretium Partners, LLC, an alternative investment manager, where he served as a Managing Director in Strategic Development.

Before Pretium, he served as a senior investment banker at Credit Suisse advising insurance companies on corporate and strategic matters.

Vella joins public affairs firm

Cornerstone Government Affairs, a government relations, public affairs and consulting firm, announced Thursday the launch of an office in Delaware.

Lauren Vella, who will lead the opening of the Delaware office, joins the firm on January 1. Vella comes to Cornerstone from the University of Delaware where she serves as Chief of Staff to the President of the University, Dennis Assanis.

She played a key role in UD's government relations and incident response teams. She also facilitated cross-departmental initiatives, advancing operational efficiency and risk mitigation.

Before her time at UD, Vella held key roles in the Delaware state government. Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House, where she managed the staff of the Majority Caucus and oversaw the operations of the Delaware House of Representatives.

Correction Department promotions announced

The Delaware Department of Correction announced leadership promotions in the Office of Planning, Research and Reentry.

Deputy Chief of Planning, Research and Reentry Jessia Cline, who has served as Acting Chief since September 2024, has been promoted to Chief on a permanent basis. Damaris Kelly, DOC's director of Compliance and Accreditation, has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Planning, Research and Reentry. Both promotions are effective immediately.

The Office of Planning, Research and Reentry plays a leading role in developing and implementing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment programs.

Cline is a 27-year DOC veteran who joined the Department in 1997 as a Probation and Parole Officer.

Kelly joined the DOC in 2019 as Director of Compliance and Accreditation in the Office of Planning, Research and Reentry compliance.

Kelly previously worked for the Delaware Emergency Management Agency.

Joyce named event manager at Cedar Grove

The Room at Cedar Grove - a Sussex County concert venue and supper club and a fundraising site for Paul Kares, a nonprofit that supports young performing and culinary artists - announced that the space is now available for private functions.

"When we're not having bands and other performers, The Room is available," said Jim Rivette, president of Paul Kares, which he founded with musician Paul Cullen. "We are opening it up for rent to benefit the community and Paul Kares."

Paul Kares recently appointed Kara Joyce to event manager. Joyce owned and operated a catering and restaurant business in Warrenton, VA, for 20 years before moving to Lewes.

Bryn Mawr Trust new hires

Wilmington-based WSFS Financial, parent company of Bryn Mawr Trust, announced new staff.

Talent acquisitions over the past several quarters include:

Expansions to Bryn Mawr Trust's Wealth and Trust services with Timothy Fisk, Seane Baylor, and Suzanne McManus,WSFS Wealth Investments Financial Advisors Kevin Dolan, Drew Venit, and Thomas Keefer,Bryn Mawr Capital Management Financial Advisors Joseph Furey, Brian Campbell, Kate Duffy, Quiaunna Powell, Anthony Feudo, Christopher Williams, and John Walters, andWSFS Private Banking Relationship Managers John Heiser, Giosue Bochicchio, and Andrea Kelly.

The new hires joined from major financial firms, including PNC, Vanguard, Morgan Stanley, Comerica, and Wilmington Trust.

Wealth Directors Donald Lyons and Angela Wagner were appointed earlier this year to lead teams in the Berwyn office. Lyons had been a Senior Wealth Strategist with Bryn Mawr Trust since 2021, and Wagner was previously a Wealth Planning Strategist at Truist Bank.

Bayhealth physician additions

Bayhealth announced the following physicians have joined the health care system.

Jennifer Eakin, DO, joined Bayhealth Heart and Vascular, Dover.

As a non-invasive cardiologist, Dr. Eakin treats patients aged 18 and older.

Prior to joining Bayhealth, Eakin served the Dover community in the same capacity for six years in private practice. She held similar positions in Maryland and New Jersey.

Bayhealth added Kendall Barton, MD to Bayhealth Primary Care, Blue Hen, Dover. Dr. Barton was among Bayhealth's first class of family medicine residents and stayed with the healthcare system.

Bayhealth welcomed Internal Medicine Physician Bo Fu, DO. Dr. Fu is the newest addition to Bayhealth Primary Care, Smyrna. Before joining Bayhealth, Fu completed his internal medicine residency at Christiana Hospital in Newark.
