People in Transition: May, 2017 Workshops

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

DEPTFORD, N.J., April 19 -- Rowan College at Gloucester County issued the following news release:

The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, health and financial workshops during the month of May. Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. Call 856-415-2222 or email [email protected] to register. You must be 18 years or older to attend.

"Simple Estate Planning" --- John P. Ciocco, Esq. of Hoffman DiMuzio will lead a workshop on preparing for a part of life we don't often like to think about - aging and passing away. An essential part of this preparation is estate planning, including the proper drafting of a Last Will and Testament, Power of Attorney and Living Will. John will lead a wide-ranging discussion concerning basic estate planning techniques that will prepare you and your family for whatever life may bring. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 3 from 7-8:30 p.m.

"How to Use the Internet and Social Media to Search and Apply for Jobs" --- Lauri Kuder, Microsoft Office Master, knows that finding a job in the age of technology is not an easy task, as traditional job-hunting methods are no longer sufficient. In this workshop Lauri will teach you how to use social media, including Linked-in, Facebook and Twitter, as part of your job search tool kit. In addition to networking, success in finding employment necessitates having the computer skills to search and apply for jobs online. You must have basic computer knowledge for this workshop. This workshop will be held on Monday, May 8 from 6 - 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.

"Find Your Inner GPS: Knowing and Living Your Values" --- Join Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld, Certified Professional Life Coach, to learn how to reconnect to your inner GPS. When experiencing personal tragedy, such as a divorce or the death of a loved one, your values get shaken up and rearranged. Learn how to help yourself by getting clear on the values that will guide you into your new and different life. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 10 from 7 - 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by United Way of Gloucester County and People in Transition.

"Tips for Helping Children, Teens and Young Adults with ADD, ADHD and Asperger's" --- Jessica Jolly, Associate Professor of Psychology, will lead a workshop for parents and caretakers of children with ADD, ADHD and/or Asperger's. She will provide you with strategies to help struggling children learn, focus, behave and adapt in academic, social and home settings. If time permits, some advocacy tips will also be discussed. This workshop will be held on Monday, May 15 from 6 - 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.

"Introduction to Medicaid for the Elderly" --- John P. Ciocco, Esq. of Hoffman DiMuzio will lead a workshop on the topic of assisting an elderly parent or relative with their transition to a nursing home. How do you pay for the nursing home? Will they take the house? Can you be personally liable for your loved one's debts? Rather than drown in the sea of rumors about how Medicaid works, please join us in this introductory workshop on adult Medicaid now -- before the unexpected happens. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 17 from 7-8:30 p.m.

"Power Point for Professional, Business and Social Projects" --- Join Lauri Kuder, Microsoft Office Master, to learn how to create presentations for work, school, social organizations and even personal use. In this workshop, you will learn how to use Power Point to create lively presentations for any event, including business presentations, school projects and community events. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 24 from 6 - 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.

Rowan College at Gloucester County's 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 off of Route 55.
