Peerfit Prepares for Medicare Expansion with Peerfit Move, Recruits Industry Veteran

PR Newswire

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Peerfit, the first and only digital health company to work with employers to fully fund fitness experiences for their employees, announced today that healthcare industry veteran Luisa Charbonneau will be joining as a Senior Adviser. Charbonneau's arrival comes on the heels of Peerfit's expansion into the Medicare Advantage space with Peerfit Move, a new fitness benefit that will be available to Medicare Advantage plan members beginning 2020.

Peerfit connects employers and their employees to fitness studios and gyms through their insurance carrier or self-funded wellness dollars. More than 12,000 employers and 200,000 (and counting) employees across the country have Peerfit fully-funded through their corporate wellness program. With Peerfit Move, the platform will now reach beyond just employers to those who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.

"With our core Peerfit product, we disrupted a legacy industry in corporate wellness. We plan to do the same with Peerfit Move," said Peerfit Chairman and CEO, Ed Buckley, III, Ph.D. "We want to help build better communities, and offer more access and variety to the Medicare population, and we are thrilled to bring in Luisa and her expertise in the industry to do just that."

Charbonneau comes to Peerfit with robust experience working in the healthcare space, most recently as Vice President of Government Markets at Florida Blue. Prior to that, Charbonneau was the VP for Medicare and Government Programs at Coventry Healthcare/Aetna in Florida and spent ten years in a variety of leadership roles with Humana.

"I'm looking forward to helping Peerfit gain traction and success in the Medicare market," said Charbonneau. "I want to help seniors get and stay healthy. Health, wellness and combating loneliness are all things our Medicare members need. They need a sense of community and we want to provide that to help them continue to enjoy life to the fullest with Peerfit Move."
