Payne, Jr. Statement on Second Trump Muslim and Refugee Ban
Congressional Documents & Publications
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10), Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications, issued the following statement after President Trump signed a revised executive order barring Muslims and refugees:
"President Trump's first attempt to ban Muslims and refugees was a huge failure. The American people rejected that ban, and I'm certain that they will reject this one, too. It's clear that the purpose of this revised ban is the same as before--to bar Muslims and refugees from entering the United States. Rather than take our national security seriously and target extremists based on evidence, the Trump administration is targeting an entire group based on religion. This will do nothing to keep us safe, and it will actually undermine our national security."
