Pacific Life Announces $9.5 Million Charitable Giving Program for 2025

Business Wire

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Pacific Life has announced plans to give $9.5 million in charitable contributions throughout 2025, supporting the communities where it operates, both in the United States and internationally. Together with the Pacific Life Foundation, Pacific Life’s global philanthropy program will focus on investing in community impact-driven programs that enable current and future generations to thrive, including college & career readiness, food security, and ocean health initiatives.

“We are committed to giving back to our communities and supporting our employees where they live and work,” said Pacific Life President & CEO Darryl Button. “Through our many impactful charitable partnerships, our goal is to create confidence for generations where it matters most. We are proud to do the right thing for our customers, people, and communities.”

The Foundation’s first grants of the year include more than $2.5 million to 141 nonprofit partners working to solve the greatest needs of the Orange County, California; Omaha, Nebraska; and Lynchburg, Virginia communities. Recipients include charities focused on making a meaningful impact through innovative and collaborative projects in the areas of arts and culture; civic, community and economic development; environment; education; and health and human services. For a full list of grant recipients, please visit: https://paclife.co/2025-grant-cycle-recipients.

2025 Capital Grants

Lestonnac Free Surgery Center

A $75,000 capital grant has been made to support the Lestonnac Free Surgery Center’s construction of a 3,200 square foot surgery center at its primary location in the city of Orange, Calif. The surgery center will provide free, life-changing surgeries to uninsured individuals, provide preventative screenings, improve chronic disease conditions and improve quality of life.

Beyond Blindness

Beyond Blindness offers multiple classrooms for children ranging from zero to six years old to meet early childhood development needs for low-income children with visual impairments and disabilities in the community. A $100,000 grant has been made to Beyond Blindness to upgrade its playground in Santa Ana, Calif. to ensure a safe and inclusive outdoor play environment that will comply with federal Head Start regulations, thus creating additional access to federal funding of more than $1 million annually to support early education.

Pretend City Children’s Museum

Pretend City Children’s Museum is relocating to Irvine, Calif.’s Great Park, constructing a new, holistic hub for early childhood learning. A $200,000 grant has been made in support of the construction allowing Pretend City, a leader in early childhood education, to partner with more early childhood organizations and to host events for professionals, educators, parents and more. Improvements to the new space include a new outdoor area, space for increased attendance, and a restaurant.

Other highlights of the 2025 global philanthropy program include:

Food Security

A $1 million transformational grant has been made to Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha, Neb., in support of the organization’s capital campaign to build a new, larger warehouse effectively increasing the food bank’s total space to more than 100,000 square feet. This will enable the food bank to source, store, and prepare more healthy food including produce, protein, and dairy for faster distribution in Nebraska and western Iowa, as well as increase its volunteer center capacity and offices.

College & Career Readiness

A $300,000 grant over a three-year period has been made to Girls Inc. of Orange County in support of its expansion strategy and Girls Meet the Workforce program. The program prepares girls for on-time high school graduation and entry into higher education and the workplace, and includes educational support, health and wellness, mentorship and life skills. The grant will help the Girls Meet the Workforce program serve 75 schools, 1,700 high school and college aged women, and assist 600 young women as they prepare for higher education or vocational training.

Ocean Health

Pacific Life’s more than two-decades-long commitment to protecting the environment and the health of our oceans aims to strengthen the vast ecosystems that enable strong and stable communities, with $18.6 million invested to date. This includes the Pacific Life Foundation’s investment of $2.5 million over five years through its partnerships with Ocean Conservancy, Oceana, The Nature Conservancy, and World Wildlife Fund; and through Pacific Life Re, Pacific Life's global reinsurance business, pledge to WWF-UK of £450,000 over four years in support of the Blue Forest Program.

Disaster Relief

Having a long history of providing support in times of disaster, the Pacific Life Foundation will continue as a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, helping to ensure the Red Cross is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small across the U.S. Since 2000, Pacific Life and the Pacific Life Foundation have donated $6.1 million to disaster response and preparedness efforts through a variety of nonprofit organizations. In January of 2025, the Pacific Life Foundation donated $750,000 in response to the Los Angeles wildfires and further supported Pacific Life employees’ monetary donations to wildfire disaster relief and recovery efforts by matching their contributions at 200 percent.

3Ts of Education

Annually, the Pacific Life Foundation awards grants to K-12 schools in the U.S. where there are concentrations of children or grandchildren of Pacific Life employees. The 3Ts of Education program supports the following areas: teacher training, technology, and textbooks. In 2025, around 130 K-12 schools nationwide will receive $380,000 in grants. Since the program’s inception in 1998, more than $11 million in 3Ts of Education grants have been distributed.

Community Engagement Programs

The Pacific Life Foundation invests in the causes its employees care most about by providing ways they can give back to the community through volunteering and matching donations. As part of the global match program, employees can receive matching contributions annually by donating to Pacific Life’s United Way campaign, to nonprofits, K-12 schools, and universities, or from individual and team volunteer efforts. Additionally, company-wide employee engagement opportunities in 2025 will include Global Week of Service events, monthly volunteer activities with local food security partners, environmental cleanups, collaborations with employee resource groups, and focused department-led team volunteer efforts.
