Sept. 01--Two persons refused treatment, but a Harlan County man was arrested for driving under the influence after a two-car crash Monday afternoon on the Cumberland Gap Parkway (U.S. 25E).
The crash occurred around 2:10 p.m. in front of the Corbin Wal-Mart, at the intersection of 25E and South Stewart Road, approximately 11 miles south of London.
Laurel County Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Gray reported to the scene and after conducting an investigation, he determined a blue-colored Oldsmobile Cutlass going northbound on South Stewart Road had apparently ran a red light and struck a Chevrolet going westbound on U.S. 25E.
Both the driver of the Chevy, Jarrett Neal of Harrodsburg, and the driver of the Olds, Lloyd Saylor, 56, of Bledsoe, received possible minor injuries but both refused treatment.
Saylor was determined to be under the influence, and was arrested.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence -- first offense, failure of owner to maintain required insurance -- first offense, disregarding a traffic control device -- traffic light, and numerous other traffic violations.
He was jailed in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Saylor's court date is set for Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Laurel District Court.
Members of West Knox Volunteer Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
