Ohio State Bar Association Announces Appointment of Cincinnati-Area Committee, Section Chairpersons

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 30 -- The Ohio State Bar Association issued the following news release:

The Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) 2018-19 President Robin Weaver has appointed three Cincinnati area attorneys to serve as chairpersons of OSBA committees and sections.

The OSBA maintains 33 committees and 10 sections, each of which specializes in a particular area of law. Committees and sections work to improve the justice system by keeping Ohio lawyers informed about the latest court decisions and regulatory changes. They also comment on bills before the Ohio General Assembly and draft their own legislative proposals to improve existing laws. Chairpersons selected for this honor have demonstrated excellence and expertise in their practice area as well as outstanding leadership and a commitment to the profession and the rule of law.

The following attorneys from OSBA District 1 were appointed to serve one-year terms, which began on July 1:

Michael J. Moeddel was appointed to serve as chair of the Corporation Law Committee. Moeddel is a practice group leader at the Cincinnati firm of Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL's Business Representation and Transactions Group. He is a member of the board of directors of Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio and the Cincinnati Bar Foundation Grants Committee. He has previously served as Chairman of the Greater Cincinnati Sports Corporation, a director of the Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau and a member of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission. Moeddel received his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Wilbert (Bill) Markovits was re-appointed to serve as chair of the Antitrust Law Section. Markovits is a founding partner at the Cincinnati law firm Markovits, Stock & DeMarco, LLC where he focuses his practice on complex civil litigation with an emphasis on securities, antitrust, RICO and False Claims Act cases. He began his career as a trial lawyer with the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division in Washington, D.C. After moving to Cincinnati he continued his focus on antitrust, becoming an adjunct professor of antitrust law at the University of Cincinnati Law School.He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University and his law degree from Harvard Law School.

Patricia D. Laub was re-appointed to serve as chair of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section. Laub is certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the OSBA and is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel where she serves as a member of the Estate and Gift Tax Committee. She concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, charitable gift planning, probate and trust litigation, business succession planning, and individual and fiduciary income taxation.Laub is a member of the board of trustees for the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and an advisory board member of the Southwest Ohio Charitable Capital Design Center.She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton and her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
