Mar. 4—CENTREVILLE — An off-duty Centreville police officer was involved in a two-car crash Wednesday at the intersection of Illinois 157 south and State Street in East St. Louis.
Jamal Jackson, 41, of Belleville and another person were transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to Illinois State Police.
Illinois State Police Trooper Sgt. Christopher Watson said ISP was called to the scene at 2:19 p.m. The intersection was partially closed for the investigation, but all lanes were reopened at approximately 3:23 p.m, he said.
State police said a preliminary investigation determined that a 34-year-old driver named India Patterson, of East St. Louis, was traveling south on Illinois 157 and failed to obey a traffic light. She struck Jackson's unmarked squad car on the driver's side door, ISP said.
Patterson was given citations for driving without insurance and disobeying a traffic control device.
