Obamacare's Temporary Reopening Enrolls 2.8 Million Americans

CE Noticias Financieras (Latin America)

MADRID. (EUROPA PRESS) - More than 2.8 million Americans have signed up to have access to low-cost health insurance, in a temporary reopening of "Obamacare2 with which the current president of the United States, Joe Biden, hopes that more citizens can "sleep peacefully at night" knowing that "they will be covered if the worst happens to them".

"When I ran for president, I promised to protect and strengthen the Affordable Care Act," Biden said in a statement, using the official name of one of the great emblems of another administration of which he was also a member.

On February 15, less than a month after the change of command in the White House, the current administration opened an extraordinary enrollment period that lasted six months and with which the administration sought to alleviate mainly the possible social and health gaps arising from the pandemic of covid-19.

Now, "2.8 million families will have more security, more breathing room and more money in their pockets if an illness or accident affects their home," Biden said. With this update, there are already 12.2 million people who benefit from the plan designed during the government of Barack Obama and countered in the stage of Donald Trump.

The White House has stressed that beneficiaries have seen their premiums reduced by an average of $ 67 a month, which implies "more than $ 800 a year". Four out of ten enrollees in this special period have been able to access plans of less than $ 10 per month.

Biden has also defended other measures of his rescue plan, which also includes a reduction in the price of medicines, and has urged Congress to also join this fight to expand access to health care for the entire population.
