Obamacare Now More Affordable With Supplemental Health Insurance

Insurance Weekly News

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- Pivot Health reported a dramatic increase in visitors analyzing and purchasing supplemental health insurance plans on its website since the start of open enrollment. From November 1 - November 7, 2016, Pivot Health had a 25 percent boost in supplemental insurance traffic compared to the same time during the previous month. Since presidential election results were announced, traffic has continued to surge with educational insurance content visits jumping nearly 120 percent.

Pivot Health, a website offering ways for Americans to fills gaps in their health insurance coverage, recently launched a new supplemental health insurance portfolio that includes a bundled package of accident, critical illness, accidental death and a daily hospital benefit for any sickness. Membership in Latitude, the branded supplemental insurance product, also includes free and unlimited doctor consultations, discount prescription drug benefits and savings on eye exams.

"Individuals who purchase their own health insurance got the double whammy when 2017 open enrollment began," said Jeff Smedsrud, Chief Executive Officer of Pivot Health. "Consumers saw their premiums go up an average of 22 percent or more, and they also got stuck with a higher medical deductible. The average family does not have thousands of dollars to spend on health care not covered by insurance. But with our supplemental plans, individuals and families can have the comfort knowing their life savings won't take a hit if they have an unexpected accident, temporary hospitalization or critical illness diagnosis."

Supplemental health insurance, which has been touted as "insurance for your insurance," has gained momentum in recent years as health consumers face paying thousands of dollars towards their high deductible health plan before insurance kicks in. The deductibles on an average silver plan on the federal marketplace are increasing approximately 15 percent next year compared to current 2016 plans.

"Just like Medicare supplement complimented original Medicare, our plans work together with Obamacare and other high deductible health insurance to provide added protection that improves an individual's financial portfolio. We are very pleased consumers are realizing how important supplemental insurance is, and choosing Pivot Health as their provider of choice," said Smedsrud.

Pivot Health supplement plans are guaranteed issue with no medical underwriting.
