Couple Arrested For Drugs [Palestine Herald-Press, Texas]
<p><chron>Oct. 04</chron>--<location value="LU/us.tx.paline" idsrc="xmltag.org">PALESTINE</location> -- A 27-year-old <location value="LU/us.tx.paline" idsrc="xmltag.org">Palestine</location> man and his common-in-law wife were arrested Sunday afternoon during the course of a traffic stop after authorities say they found various drugs in their vehicle.</p><p><person>Jose J. Gonzalez</person>, 27, of <location value="LU/us.tx.paline" idsrc="xmltag.org">Palestine</location> was charged with the felony offenses of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance between 1 and 4 grams and possession of a controlled substance less than 28 grams, according to <location value="LU/us.tx.andson" idsrc="xmltag.org">Anderson County</location> Sheriff <person>Greg Taylor</person>.</p><p>Gonzalez was additionally charged with the misdemeanor offenses of possession of marijuana under 2 ounces and having a fictitious inspection sticker, according to the sheriff.</p><p><person>Amber Dawn Lamb</person>, 25, of <location value="LU/us.tx.paline" idsrc="xmltag.org">Palestine</location>, whom authorities described as Gonzalez' common-in-law wife, was charged with the felony offenses of possession of a controlled substance less than 28 grams and possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram, according to the sheriff.</p><p>Lamb also was charged with possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, according to Taylor.</p><p>Around <chron>2:30 p.m. Sunday</chron>, the sheriff said deputy <person>John Wright</person> stopped a 1977 Chevrolet pickup on <location value="LS/us.tx" idsrc="xmltag.org">Texas</location> 294, west of <location value="LU/us.tx.elkart" idsrc="xmltag.org">Elkhart</location>, for displaying a "faulty inspection sticker."</p><p>Gonzalez, who was the vehicle's driver, did not have a driver's license or proof of insurance and was placed under arrest, according to the sheriff.</p><p>"During the pat down, he (the deputy) found a marijuana pipe in his pocket and nine little individual plastic baggies of methamphetamine," Taylor said.</p><p>Some of the baggies were secreted in a compartment of a Zippo cigarette lighter, the sheriff explained.</p><p>Total weight of the methamphetamine, including packaging, was 2.78 grams, Taylor said.</p><p>A cloth bag and backpack found in the vehicle also contained "a smoking pipe," a small amount of marijuana and 21 Hydrocodone tablets, according to the sheriff.</p><p>The smoking pipe included a trace amount of methamphetamine, the sheriff stated.</p><p>Gonzalez and Lamb were both charged in connection with the marijuana and Hydrocodone, he added.</p><p>Authorities also seized a total of <money>$399</money> cash in various denominations from Gonzalez, according to Taylor.</p><p>"He's (Gonzalez) known to us as a small-time meth dealer in this area," Taylor said.</p><p>Records showed Lamb was released from the <location>Anderson County Jail</location> Monday after posting bonds totaling <money>$21,000</money> set by <location value="LU/us.tx.andson" idsrc="xmltag.org">Anderson County</location> Justice of the Peace <person>James Westley</person>.</p><p>Gonzalez, meanwhile, remained jailed in lieu of bonds totaling <money>$87,500</money> also set by Westley, according to records.</p><p><person>Paul Stone</person> may be contacted via e-mail at <a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a></p><p class="shirttail">___</p><p class="shirttail">(c)2011 the Palestine Herald-Press (Palestine, Texas)</p><p class="shirttail">Visit the Palestine Herald-Press (Palestine, Texas) at www.palestineherald.com</p><p class="shirttail">Distributed by MCT Information Services</p>
