AIG Leads Tuesday’s AMBG as Global Insurance Index Rises 3.45%

<p>The AMBG closed Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 628.03 (+3.45%). Of the 15 A.M. Best stock indexes, 12 rose and three declined. Leading A.M. Best's Global Insurance Composite Index (AMBG) were AIG (+35.56%) and Phoenix Cos. (+28.46%). Trailing the list of global insurance stocks were Singapore Reinsurance Corp. (-17.14%) and Aegon N.V. (-13.96%).</p> <p>The U.S. Life Insurance Index led the sector indexes, with the European Insurance Index trailing the list. In descending order, the A.M. Best Insurance Stock Indexes closed at:</p> <p>U.S. Life Insurance Index (AMBUL) +12.47%</p> <p>U.S. Life and Health/HMO Insurance Index (AMBULH) +10.57%</p> <p>U.S. Insurance Brokers Index (AMBUB) +9.67%</p> <p>Global Insurance Brokers Index (AMBGB) +9.15%</p> <p>U.S. Health and HMO Insurance Index (AMBUH) +8.75%</p> <p>U.S. Insurance Index (AMBUS) +7.37%</p> <p>U.S. Multi-Line Insurance Index (AMBUML) +6.80%</p> <p>Global Life Insurance Index (AMBGL) +6.19%</p> <p>U.S. Property/Casualty Insurance Index (AMBUPC) +4.91%</p> <p>Global Non-Life Insurance Index (AMBGNL) +3.90%</p> <p>Global Composite Index (AMBG) +3.45%</p> <p>Global Reinsurance Index (AMBGR) +1.25%</p> <p>Asia/Pacific Insurance Index (AMBAP) -0.05%</p> <p>Global Multi-Line Insurance Index (AMBGML) -2.53%</p> <p>European Insurance Index (AMBEUR) -4.60%</p> <p>The U.S. Insurance Index (AMBUS) closed at 650.99 (+7.37%). (-8.22%).</p> <p>The European Insurance Index (AMBEUR) closed at 526.60 (-4.60%). Leading the AMBEUR were Beazley Group (+12.50%) and Amlin plc (+7.67%). Trailing the AMBEUR were Aegon N.V. (-13.96%) and ING Groep N.V. (-13.41%).</p> <p>The Asia/Pacific Insurance Index (AMBAP) closed at 903.77 (-0.05%). Leading the AMBAP were Dongbu Insurance Co. (+15.00%) and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. (+14.97%). Trailing the AMBAP were Singapore Reinsurance Corp. (-17.14%) and Fuji Fire & Marine Insurance (-5.52%).</p> <p>The Global Reinsurance Index (AMBGR) closed at 779.38 (+1.25%). Leading the AMBGR were XL Capital (+16.64%) and Korean Reinsurance Co. (+13.27%). Trailing the AMBGR were Singapore Reinsurance Corp. (-17.14%) and Aegon N.V. (-13.96%).</p> <p>The Global Broker Index (AMBGB) closed at 938.27 (+9.15%). Leading the AMBGB were Willis Group Holdings (+12.92%) and Marsh & McLennan Cos. (+11.59%). Trailing the AMBGB were Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group plc (-0.36%) and Benfield Group (0.00%).</p> <p>The Global Multi-Line Insurance Index (AMBGML) closed at 407.34 (-2.53%). Leading the AMBGML were AIG (+35.56%) and Horace Mann Educators (+17.30%). Trailing the AMBGML were AXA S.A. (-7.81%) and Allianz (-7.33%).</p> <p>The Global Nonlife Insurance Index (AMBGNL) closed at 932.21 (+3.90%). Leading the AMBGNL were XL Capital (+16.64%) and Dongbu Insurance Co. (+15.00%). Trailing the AMBGNL were Singapore Reinsurance Corp. (-17.14%) and Greenlight Capital Re (-12.10%).</p> <p>The Global Life Insurance Index (AMBGL) closed at 548.82 (+6.19%). Leading the AMBGL were Phoenix Cos. (+28.46%) and Independence Holding Co. (+24.95%). Trailing the AMBGL were Aegon N.V. (-13.96%) and ING Groep N.V. (-13.41%).</p> <p>The U.S. Property/Casualty Index (AMBUPC) closed at 985.21 (+4.91%). Leading the AMBUPC were First Acceptance Corp. (+17.23%) and XL Capital (+16.64%). Trailing the AMBUPC were Greenlight Capital Re (-12.10%) and Unico American Corp. (-8.22%).</p> <p>The U.S. Multi-Line Insurance Index (AMBUML) closed at 162.24 (+6.80%). Leading the AMBUML were AIG (+35.56%) and Horace Mann Educators (+17.30%). Trailing the AMBUML were Hartford Financial Services Group (-2.78%) and Delphi Financial Group (+0.20%).</p> <p>The U.S. Life Insurance Index (AMBUL) closed at 636.55 (+12.47%). Leading the AMBUL were Phoenix Cos. (+28.46%) and Independence Holding Co. (+24.95%). Trailing the AMBUL were National Western Life Insurance (-0.12%) and Nationwide Financial Services (+0.21%).</p> <p>The U.S. Life and Health/HMO Insurance Index (AMBULH) closed at 667.06 (+10.57%). Leading the AMBULH were Phoenix Cos. (+28.46%) and Independence Holding Co. (+24.95%). Trailing the AMBULH were Universal American (-2.27%) and National Western Life Insurance (-0.12%).</p> <p>The U.S. Health and HMO Index (AMBUH) closed at 698.45 (+8.75%). Leading the AMBUH were AFLAC Inc. (+15.08%) and UnitedHealth Group (+9.89%). Trailing the AMBUH were Universal American (-2.27%) and Coventry Health Care (+0.33%).</p> <p>The U.S. Insurance Brokers Index (AMBUB) closed at 923.55 (+9.67%). Leading the AMBUB were Willis Group Holdings (+12.92%) and Marsh & McLennan Cos. (+11.59%). Trailing the AMBUB were AmTrust Financial Services Inc.
