NFL wide receiver Demaryius Thomas arrested for vehicular assault in relation to crash in Denver earlier this month

Feb. 28-- Feb. 28--NFL wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, a five-time Pro Bowler, was arrested for vehicular assault, according to authorities.

Thomas had crashed his vehicle in Denver on Feb. 16, four days after he was released by the Houston Texans. He turned himself into the Denver Police Department on Wednesday after the warrant was issued.

Investigators allege in a statement of probable cause obtained by the Daily News that Thomas was driving at a "high rate of speed" when he drove off the side of a road and went over a raised median. After going airborne, the vehicle "tumbled end over end" before landing on its wheels, according to authorities.

The two passengers in the vehicle were both hospitalized, including one with serious bodily injuries. Thomas suffered minor injuries in the crash.

It is believed that Thomas was traveling over 70 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone, the police records state. He is facing charges of vehicular assault, driving without insurance and reckless driving.

Thomas, 31, has spent most of his career with the Denver Broncos. He caught 111 passes for 1,619 yards for the Broncos in 2014, and followed that up with 105 receptions in 2015. He has more than 9,000 receiving yards in his career, but is currently looking for a new team after being released by the Texans.
