Nearly 414,000 Sign Up For ‘Obamacare’ In Pa.

More than 400,000 Pennsylvanians renewed or signed up for health insurance in the first two months of open enrollment in the Affordable Care Act using HealthCare.gov, federal data show.

The number of enrollees - 413,760 - puts the state on pace with previous years. In 2016, 439,238 residents had signed up, including 17,407 from Lancaster County. In 2015, 427,454 had signed up, including 17,754 from the county.

Open enrollment on the federal Affordable Care Act marketplace ends Jan. 31. Sunday is the deadline to sign up for coverage that starts Feb. 1. Local numbers have not yet been released.

Nationwide, federal officials said, 8.8 million people have signed up to date, up from 8.6 million at this time last year. The 2016 total at the end of open enrollment, including states that use their own marketplaces instead of HealthCare.gov, was 9.6 million.
