NCOIL Leaders Approve Rebranding
Manasquan, NJ – At the suggestion of KY Rep. Steve Riggs, NCOIL then President, the Articles of Organization and Bylaws Revision Committee, chaired by NY Assemblyman Will Barclay. debated changing the organization name from the National CONFERENCE of Insurance Legislators to the National COUNCIL of Insurance Legislators.
“I believed that Council more accurately reflects what NCOIL is” said Rep. Riggs. “We are a council of state legislators that meets at conferences (both live and telephone) to discuss, debate and implement sound insurance and financial services policy.”
“The Council is made up of legislators from all 50 states” said AR Sen. Jason Rapert, NCOIL President. “I am pleased to be the first full-year President of the National Council of Insurance Legislators, although Rep. Riggs was technically still president for a few minutes when the change was adopted by the Executive Committee.”
The measure passed both the By-Laws Committee and full Executive Committee unanimously.
“This change brings us in line with the national nature of NCOIL, reflecting the 50 member-states are together as a Council, yet people will still be greeted by ‘NCOIL’ when they call the national office” said Commissioner Tom Considine, NCOIL CEO.
The organization has rebranded the organization logo and will migrate all changes in the coming weeks.
