MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) _ National HealthCare Corp. (NHC) on Thursday reported third-quarter earnings of $12.8 million.

The Murfreesboro, Tennessee-based company said it had net income of 84 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 88 cents per share.

The nursing home and assisted living company posted revenue of $250.6 million in the period.

National HealthCare shares have decreased 25% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 21% in the last 12 months.
