NARAL Pro-Choice America Endorses John Larson for Congress

Targeted News Service (Press Releases)

WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 -- NARAL Pro-Choice America issued the following news release:

NARAL Pro-Choice America today announced its endorsement of John Larson in Connecticut's 1st Congressional District.

"With Roe v. Wade in jeopardy and our rights under constant fire, now more than ever Connecticut women and families need a passionate and trustworthy public servant like John Larson who will stand up for their rights," said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. "We are proud to support John Larson and look forward to him winning this November."

"Congressman John Larson has been a tireless advocate for women and families across Connecticut," said Sarah Croucher, Executive Director, NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut. "With our rights under attack by Trump and the GOP, and the looming threat to Roe v Wade at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Connecticut needs true champions in Congress to protect our rights. We know that John Larson will continue to be the kind of leader that Connecticutians deserve and NARAL and our members are proud to support his re-election this November."

"I am honored to have the support of NARAL Pro-Choice America - especially now as women's reproductive rights are being continually attacked by the current Administration," said Larson. "This isn't just a women's issue. We need to all work together because these are human rights. I am committed to defending and advocating for pro-choice policies in Congress for women in Connecticut and across the country."

John Larson has dedicated his life to bettering his community through public service. He served in the Connecticut State Senate for 12 years, and as the Senate President Pro Tempore for eight years. He was first elected to Congress in 1998 and has always been a consistent pro-choice advocate, receiving a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America every year. He most recently voted against a 20-week abortion ban, the numerous attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, and the Republican attacks on the ACA. Larson will not give up until women have full and unlimited access to reproductive healthcare.

NARAL's political program for the 2018 general election is the organization's largest ever midterm political program to advance candidates fighting for "our values, our future, our vote." NARAL is investing in diverse candidates up and down the ballot in 19 states, mobilizing members and voters through mail, phones, digital ads, door to door canvassing, TV ads, and rallies that hold anti-choice candidates accountable and lift up pro-choice champions.
