N.C. Democratic Party: Protect Our Care Bus Tour Stop in Raleigh Highlights President Biden and Democrats' Efforts to Deliver Lower Health Care Costs

Targeted News Service

RALEIGH, North Carolina, Aug. 25 -- The North Carolina Democratic Party issued the following news on Aug. 25, 2021:

Republicans have spent the better part of the last decade trying to roll back, weaken, and eliminate the Affordable Care Act.

President Biden and Democrats believe that health care is a right - not a privilege - and that every single North Carolinian should have access to quality, affordable care.

Yesterday, Protect Our Care's national bus tour stopped at Moore Square in Raleigh to highlight the work President Biden and Democrats are doing to lead the charge to call for lowering North Carolinians' health costs, expanding coverage, and reducing racial disparities in care. Speakers included Senator Jay Chaudhuri, Senator Natalie Murdock, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Dr. Bobbie Richardson, NC AFL-CIO President Mary-Be McMillan, Raleigh-Apex NAACP President Gerald Givens and Laura Packard, Health Care Voter Executive Director and cancer survivor.

Thanks to President Biden and Democrats' American Rescue Plan, four out of five Affordable Care Act enrollees can now buy a plan for $10 or less per month, and the American Families Plan could make those premium reductions permanent - lowering North Carolina families' monthly health care costs. Since the Biden administration opened a special enrollment period because of the pandemic, more than 1.5 million Americans have signed up for health insurance since February.

Democrats know there's more work to be done. President Biden and Democrats will continue building back better by fighting for popular, proven initiatives to get 'parents earning and children learning' - including expanded access to quality child care, national paid family leave, support for early education, even stronger tax credits for families and a transformed care economy that will help children, seniors and people with long-term care needs.
