MPI Launches New Philadelphia Office; Expands Consulting Services to Include Forensic Accounting and Economic Damage Calculations

Business Wire

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Management Planning Inc. (MPI), a prestigious national consulting firm founded in 1939 specializing in business valuation, litigation support and corporate advisory work, opened a Philadelphia office to serve as national headquarters for its new forensic accounting and economic damages practice. MPI’s Philadelphia office will also support its growing Pennsylvania client base, as well as its traditional business valuation, litigation support services, and advisory services.

Leading the Philadelphia office will be Mark Lingerfield, ASA, a Partner and Director at MPI responsible for business development strategies in the Mid-Atlantic region; Managing Director James T. O’Brien, CPA/CFF, who joins MPI from the Philadelphia office of an international public accounting firm where he was part of a National Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services Group; and Vice President Megan B. Gilberg, CFE, CVA, whose practice is focused on disputes in matrimonial litigation and complex commercial litigation engagements.

“Our expansion into Philadelphia’s vibrant business community is a further broadening of MPI’s strong presence in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets,” says Dan Kerrigan, President of MPI. “We are particularly happy to have Mark and Jim leading this effort, and serving as the faces of MPI to the Philadelphia legal and business communities.”

“Litigation support and dispute resolution services are a thriving part of MPI’s practice, and we are so very pleased to expand our firm’s expertise into the forensic accounting and investigation realm with the addition of Jim O’Brien,” adds Kerrigan. “Jim is a highly regarded and nationally recognized litigation expert and has serviced the Philadelphia region for the entirety of his career. In addition, we are proud to have Megan’s diverse valuation and forensic accounting expertise to help expand our Philly presence in both the commercial damages and marital dissolution markets.”

Headquartered in Lawrenceville, NJ -- with offices in New York City, Boston, Connecticut, Chicago and Orlando -- MPI and its staff of senior professionals has a stellar history and national reputation as a leader in the valuation and dispute resolution communities.

In April, MPI expanded its Matrimonial Litigation practice with the hire of Stacy Statkus as a Senior Vice President in the New York City office. Her area of expertise within Litigation Support is Matrimonial Litigation involving high net worth individuals, celebrities, professional athletes, C-suite executives, business owners and their spouses. Prior to MPI, she was Director of Litigation and Matrimonial Services for an international public accounting firm in New York City.

Mark E. Lingerfield

Mr. Lingerfield, ASA, has nearly 20 years of experience with MPI as both an analyst and business development director, and is active in several professional business organizations in the Philadelphia area. Mr. Lingerfield specializes in valuations of operating companies, asset holding entities, and other complex privately-held assets that are primarily used in tax planning strategies. Mr. Lingerfield works closely with advisors and business owners to assist in estate and gift tax planning, income tax planning, charitable contributions, litigation support, buy-sell agreements and exit planning.

James T. O’Brien

Mr. O’Brien, CPA/CFF, brings nearly 30 years of experience to the firm’s client needs, including public accounting, forensic accounting, litigation support, focusing importantly on economic damages and other investigations. A published author and national speaker on the subject, Mr. O’Brien will focus the practice on providing damage calculations in complex commercial litigation and forensic accounting investigations. In addition, Mr. O’Brien frequently assists clients in documenting insurance claims such as flood, fire, or theft losses that impact business operations.

Megan B. Gilberg

Ms. Gilberg, CFE, CVA is also key to MPI’s expansion into Philadelphia. Ms. Gilberg has over 13 years of experience and focuses her practice on matrimonial litigation matters and complex commercial litigation engagements, including economic damages, shareholder and partnership disputes, and financial fraud investigations.
