Last week, U.S. Senator Jerry Moran voiced strong support on the Senate floor for fellow Kansan Michelle "Miki" Bowman, who has been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve for Supervision. Her nomination was recently advanced by the Senate Committee on Banking.
"When President Trump chose Miki to serve as the community bank representative on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, it was clear that she was the right choice to give small lenders in rural communities a voice at the Fed," said Senator. Moran. "With immense experience working in and supervising community banks, I'm confident Miki will continue to be a champion for community banks and the people they serve."
A native of Council Grove, Kansas, Bowman holds degrees from the University of Kansas and Washburn University School of Law. She previously served as Vice President of Farmers and Drovers Bank in Council Grove and as Kansas Bank Commissioner, where she oversaw hundreds of state-chartered banks, trust companies, and money transmitters.
"Not only do I trust Miki's professional experience, but I've come to know her as an independent, forthright, intelligent, and high-quality individual with a demonstrated record of service to her state and nation," Moran added. "I urge my colleagues to support her nomination."
